Meta Advocate for Funding

Empowering Educational Equality

METCO relies on state funding, requiring annual approval from the state legislature to sustain all our inspiring initiatives. It is essential to advocate for this funding to both maintain and enhance the impact of METCO’s programs. Explore how you can become an advocate and contribute to a better, more equitable future!

Current Status of FY24 Funding

  • Gov. Maura Healey has signed the FY24 state budget. METCO was level funded at $29.5M.
  • We will be lobbying for a METCO budget increase, as we have received for the last 6 years, in a supplemental budget to be filed later this year.

Never underestimate the power of your voice!

It’s legislative budgeting season, and there’s a lot you can do to help advocate for METCO’s $32.2M funding request:

  • Contact your legislators: email, call, and/or send letters!
  • Click here to find your legislators
  • Set up individual appointments with your legislators to discuss the impact of the program

The Impact of Funding

Tell your legislators that funding METCO will go towards:

  • Supporting students with academic help and mental health professionals
  • Deepening equity work with assessment tools and best practice systems
  • Meeting increased expenses caused by inflation and staffing challenges
  • Expanding enrollment in participating districts, who have expressed a desire for 116 additional seats
